While we've been here hitting the books, my boyfriend Josh has spent the week in Italy with one of his classes. He is a student in the New Mexico Musical Heritage Project directed by Dr. Peter White. The program is designed to teach students about the rich musical history of NewMexico. Josh and his fellow classmates are currently in the process of hand-crafting their very own violins in the program, and have travelled to Italy to present their work at the 2009 Cremona Mondomusica Festival.
The Festival is a one of a kind exhibition that showcases some of the world's greatest amateur and professional intsrument makers. The group's unique presentation about the rich musicial tradition in our state is scheduled for tomorrow at 11:30 am. Since Italy is 8 hours ahead of our time zone, that is at roughly 3:30 am our time. Wish them luck!
The group is set to return at around 6 pm this Saturday at the ABQ Sunport should anyone be interested in greeting them upon their return.

That sounds amazing! I hope the festival went well and your boyfriend had a good time!
ReplyDeleteThe English dept. has a class that goes to London for a few weeks every summer, and I've always wanted to take it just for fun, but I don't think my family would be too happy if I took off for that long without them...
It went really well, and he did have fun. The group that heads the Festival apparently wants to start an exchange program so I guess that their presentation must have rocked!
